## Overview

The **Dighomi Massive** (Georgian: დიღმის მასივი, *Dighmis masivi*) is a neighbourhood of Tbilisi in **Didube District**, on the **right bank of the Mtkvari (Kura)**, on the Dighomi plain. It is divided into 6 quarters, and its central thoroughfare is **Grigol Robakidze Avenue**.

Construction of the first housing estates in Dighomi began in 1960. Didube District consists of two neighbourhoods, Didube and the Dighomi Massive; unlike Didube, the Dighomi Massive lies on the right bank of the river.

## Location and boundaries

The centre of the neighbourhood is at approximately 41.7627° N, 44.7749° E (OpenStreetMap). Under Tbilisi City Council Resolution No. 16-35 of 5 December 2014, **territorial unit No. 25 — Dighomi Massive** is bounded as follows:

- the boundary starts on the axis of the Mtkvari riverbed, which separates the Dighomi Massive from Didube, and follows the **Dighomi ravine** (Dighmis Khevi) up to Gelovani Avenue;
- it then follows the axis of Gelovani Avenue and the central axis of **David Aghmashenebeli Alley** to the Dighomi–Gldani highway;
- there it turns east, includes the right-hand side of the traffic interchange, and follows the northern outline of the bridge to the middle of the Mtkvari, returning along the river to the starting point.

To the west, across David Aghmashenebeli Alley, lies **Didi Dighomi** in Saburtalo District; according to English Wikipedia, **Vashlijvari** is situated near the I quarter and close to the II quarter of the Massive. Across the Mtkvari to the east is **Didube**.

## History

In 1960, **270 hectares** were set aside on the right bank of the Mtkvari, along the Didube bridge: 150 ha went to housing and the rest to parks, sports facilities and other uses.

The administrative history of the area is tied to Didube District:

- **29 September 1931** — by a resolution of the Presidium of the Tbilisi City Executive Committee, the Stalin District was created;
- **11 November 1961** — it was renamed the First of May (Pervomaisky) District;
- **From June 1990** — Didube District;
- **2000–2013** — the district was part of Didube-Chugureti District, after which a separate Didube District was re-established.

## Administrative status

Under the 2014 resolution **Didube District** is divided into two territorial units: **No. 24 — Didube** and **No. 25 — Dighomi Massive**. Resolution No. 8-18 of 18 March 2022 changed only the district map and the description of the Krtsanisi units in the 2014 resolution.

## Streets, education and institutions

The central thoroughfare is Grigol Robakidze Avenue; other streets include Boris Paichadze, Evgeni Mikeladze, Sandro Akhmeteli, Chaladze and Beliashvili streets.

The Dighomi Massive has five public schools — **No. 130, 134, 140, 147 and 169**. It is home to FC Dinamo Tbilisi, the Avaza football school, the Georgian Judo Federation, the Tbilisi Main Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Tbilisi Court of Appeals.

## Nearby sights
