Ureki

Ureki is a seaside resort in Ozurgeti Municipality, Guria, on the Black Sea coast about 60 km north of Batumi. Its defining feature is the black magnetic sand, rich in magnetite and titanomagnetite; local tradition credits it with healing properties, although that effect has not been confirmed by scientific research. The beach runs for roughly 1.5 km and the climate is humid subtropical. Ureki has held resort status since 1953 and recorded 1,166 residents in the 2014 census. The season lasts from June to mid-September.
