Bakuriani

Bakuriani is a mountain and climatic resort in Borjomi Municipality, Samtskhe-Javakheti, at 1,700 m above sea level on the northern slope of the Trialeti range. Its ski terrain is divided between two main areas, Didveli and Kokhta-Mitarbi, and the first ski base opened here as early as 1932. The historic narrow-gauge Kukushka railway links Bakuriani with Borjomi over 37 km of mountain forest. In 2023 the resort hosted the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships. Bakuriani is about 180 km from Tbilisi, roughly two and a half hours by road; the ski season runs from December to March, and in summer it works as a health and climate resort.
