• He was born on 4 July 1934 in Tbilisi and graduated from the history faculty of Tbilisi State University in 1957.

• His first short stories appeared in 1957 in the magazine Tsiskari. Only seven of his stories were published during his lifetime, among them "The Mousetrap", "Slow Tango" and "Death in the Mountains".

• His first collection of stories, Salamura, was published posthumously in 1961. His works have been translated into German, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Czech and Russian.

• He died on 23 August 1960 in Gagra, aged 26, while trying to rescue a person in the sea. He is buried in Tbilisi, at the Vake cemetery.
