Megobroba Street (Georgian: მეგობრობის ქუჩა, “Friendship Street”) is a street in the Samgori district of Tbilisi, in the Varketili Meurneoba settlement (literally “Varketili farm”). According to OpenStreetMap (OSM), it is about 1.1 km long. It starts at Nugzar Shanava Street and ends at Rustaveli 2nd Lane.

The name is the Georgian word megobroba, “friendship”. In OSM most of the street is mapped as a residential street; one section about 210 m long is tagged as unpaved.

Location

According to OSM, the northern end of the street is at Nugzar Shanava Street (about 41.7140° N, 44.8956° E). From there the street runs south-west, then turns south and ends in the south-east at about 41.7088° N, 44.8989° E. The midpoint of the street is at about 41.7111° N, 44.8929° E.

Name

Megobroba means “friendship” in Georgian. We could not find the official decision giving the street this name in the Legislative Herald of Georgia (Matsne), so the date of naming is unknown.

By Decision No. 341 of the Tbilisi City Council of 23 July 2021, Megobroba 1st Lane in the Varketili Meurneoba settlement and an unnamed street next to it were named after the public figure Vakhtang Malaqmadze. According to OSM, Vakhtang Malaqmadze Street joins Megobroba Street in its southern part.
